Character Education Program – Medal of Honor!

Gateway School is proud to introduce a new Character Education Program called MEDAL OF HONOR, coordinated by Supervisor of Instruction, Mr. Kevin Jones.

There are 6 pillars that are taught to students: Courage, Commitment, Integrity, Sacrifice, Citizenship, and Patriotism. Each month the school community will focus on a particular character trait to encourage building on these pillars. In September our trait was COMMITMENT – following through! In October our trait was RESPECT – for ourselves and others!  For November, the focus will be on CITIZENSHIP. Teachers have access to lots of resources/education plans to help teach and encourage students in each trait.

The program is flexible and is adapted to each student’s/classes abilities. Programs like this enhance Gateway’s commitment to developing social/emotional skills in all our students.
